Kisspeptin-10 is a fragment of the kisspeptin peptide that activates receptors on GnRH-producing neurons in the hypothalamus, triggering release of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone —the key upstream signal the body uses to regulate the reproductive hormone axis.
In human research, intravenous kisspeptin-10 produced a rapid, dose-dependent rise in luteinizing hormone in healthy men. A 12-day study giving men repeated infusions sustained elevated reproductive hormones throughout the study. Notably, the response is sexually dimorphic: women only showed a comparable hormone rise during a specific phase of their cycle, while men responded consistently.
