CJC-1295 is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) engineered to bind circulating albumin after injection, extending its half-life well beyond natural GHRH so it can continuously stimulate the pituitary to release growth hormone.
In a randomized study in healthy adult volunteers, a single CJC-1295 injection produced dose-dependent 2- to 10-fold increases in plasma growth hormone lasting six or more days, and 1.5- to 3-fold increases in IGF-1 lasting 9-11 days. A separate human study found GH was released with preserved natural pulsatility rather than flattened secretion. In GHRH-knockout mice, daily low-dose injections normalized growth, while less frequent dosing produced only partial effects.
