TB-500 is marketed as a synthetic version of a short active region of thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4), a naturally occurring actin-regulating protein studied for roles in cell migration and wound repair. Most published research covers full-length Tβ4 or related fragments rather than the specific synthetic "TB-500" product itself.
In mouse studies, full-length Tβ4 and an actin-binding-domain fragment shortened dermal wound healing time versus control, with effects also reported in diabetic and aged-mouse models. Direct evidence for TB-500 itself is largely limited to in vitro fibroblast assays and metabolite studies —no completed, published human randomized controlled trials have evaluated TB-500 for tissue repair.
